RMRF is HPDE-like (think Road Racing - a real road course race track, but non-competitive, just track time to learn), and
The Driver's Edge is highly recommended for an HPDE-like event around TX. Auto-X is a different thing (cones set up in a parking lot, lower speed and shorter runs, solo for time, more technical I guess). There's a few different groups that do Auto-X around Houston, but the main ones are the one that Dreamer linked earlier and the Porsche/BMW clubs (which do allow other makes!).
