Real world/street...the GT500 owns the ZL-1 and I'd love to run into one in my GT500 which is a 2010. Mine dynoed 511 which is a few HP more than the ZL-1 stock dynos I've seen (my car is stock as well)
On the track, the ZL-1 will have better handling however, the GT500 can and will hold its own and a good driver can easily make the difference. I will admit that the ZL-1 has the edge when it comes to handling, no doubt about that.
On the strip/street I will say that BOTH the ZL-1 and the GT500 get significantly faster with a drag radial, I'm actually amazed that the GT500 (pre-13') puts down 0-60 in the 4's because I can tell you that 1st is essentially useless no matter how much you baby it and 2nd is OK for a moment then the tires light up. There are people who have switched to a drag radial *stock* and are running 11.6's to 11.8's at 120+ traps by simply changing to a drag radial. I'm sure the ZL-1 is in the same boat, the stock tires on the GT500 are horrible, I'm anxious to see how this car will be once I put a sticky tire on it because it is frustrating that 1st/2nd spin up so much.
They are both bad *** cars and I'm just happy to see good/fast cars being made again!
