Out of the many different aspects of clutch and transmission operation mentioned here, one caught my eye and that is the clunkiness of the 1-2 shift than some people have experienced. For me, the best way to get a smooth shift every time is to double-clutch. As a matter of routine I double-clutch all of my up and down shifts involving gears 1 through 4 and I get quiet, smooth shifts every time. A little more work, but well worth it for me!.
