Where I live when you trade your car of lesser value to a dealership for another car of a higher value you only pay taxes on the difference in price which is another thing to consider.
If they offer you 22k for yours and want 40k before taxes on the roadster you should only be paying the difference in price on taxes (18k), and taxes should be around $1,000ish instead of selling yours outright for say 24k and then paying full sales tax on 40 grand which in Texas is 6.25% and I'm sure it's close, if not the same where you live so you would be paying roughly $2,500 in tax on the car instead of $1,000 if you were to trade in.
Just wanted to throw that out there because I have considered swapping for another Z in the past but it was a private seller and I would have to pay taxes on 30k+ all over again..... Pointless
