Getting a 2/3 majority in the Senate to ratify such a treaty is highly unlikely, but that's assuming that the UN can get its act together enough to actually write such a multi-national document that has any degree of coherence. I consider that unlikely. And the fact that Iran was invited to be on the organizing bureau for the group only reinforces my estimation that the whole process is likely to be yet another version of the UN Clown Show.
I'm not saying that one shouldn't donate to the NRA/ILA in support of their stance, but I suspect we have only seen the leading edge of the fear-mongering that will be coming down the pike and I'm inclined to take it all with a grain of salt. The NRA is most definitely not above trying to scare the people into donating to it.
This Arms Treaty can't have any direct effect on US law, and international treaties can't supersede the Constitution.
