Oh hey I forgot about that. This guy is 100% right. This is what's causing your rattle. Unfortunately, Nissan are a bunch of jerks who put loctite on your shift knob so it's impossible to remove without utterly destroying it.

I used a torque wrench (and a friend to hold the shifter steady) and just annihilated the OEM shift knob and replaced it with a smaller/lighter nismo knob. The nismo shift knobs replace that crappy plastic painted bezel with a rubber one that grips and will not rattle.

That noise annoyed the hell out of me.
