to some degree you are correct but the rubber/tread is the grip, ride and safety of the tire. thinking you can run one down to the belts every time to get the "most mileage" out of a set of tires is pure insanity

yea i highly doubt that happened at the dealership. that doesn't look like a tool or anything i've seen around a garage/shop.
