Buying used can be a smart move although a little less so the last few years as used prices have stayed stronger than historical averages...
What doesn't make sense is putting money down when you have 0% financing available. The dealer will give you no better of a deal to bring cash to the table. In fact, if you don't finance the vehicle with them, you remove a small bit of revenue they receive for initiating the loan.
If Nissan was offering $2000 cash back OR 0% financing, it would be a different conversation.
