Thanks, and yeah that sounded strange when I first heard it also, but I guess it makes sense. The Japanese automakers use very large ships, which are specifically set up to transport cars & trucks. These ships can hold 4,000+ vehicles and normally go back and forth from Japan to the west coast of the US.
Because 80% of our goods get shipped in from the west coast. The manufacturers can then have the few cars dedicated for Hawaii moved onto these other ships.
Thanks goodness these miles don't count on the odometer......if it did, we'd have over 5,000 miles on the clock!!!
