I really think those that paint all the dealerships with the same brush may be unnecessarily cutting out a good option. The dealership I bought my car from was great on price, great on service but absolutely horrible on the delivery of cars. So I get my car serviced at a different dealership.
The second dealership may have been good on price when buying the car, they just didn;t have ehat I wanted. What they did that impressed me was be up front about the wait time when I showed up. It seems they had 2 techs call out that day. Then I had a question about some "extra" parts that were in the hatch area of the car when I bought it. It turns out that these parts were the front air dam and the two air deflectors for the front tires that the original dealership "forgot" to install. They installed them for free. I know it wasn't a whole lot of time but this was my first visit and I didn't even buy the car there.
Dealerships also are the first to know about recalls and other information about our cars. Chances are if you build a good relationship with them they'll take care of you in these matters.
