Usually "eco" oil refers to one of two things... recycled oil (partially or fully) or thinner oil which is supposed to help fuel economy by reducing friction (but also doesn't protect against wear as much).

My little Mazda takes a more economical oil, 5w-20...

Maybe it is just my perception but I don't like using anything that is supposed to be "economical" or eco-friendly in my cars... makes me feel like it is probably a lesser grade.
