as i said, if you want better fuel economy on the automatic, use the tip tronic and shift yourself. The automatic usually cruises in 4th-5th gear at 60km/h in the city. With the tip tronic you can kick it in 6th, it drops about 200rpm, which makes a difference. Then on the highway, if you need to accelerate and floor it, the car will drop to 5th, maybe even 4th if you are going abit slower. Which in most cases is unnecessary just dropping form 7th to 6th, going about 110km/h - 120km/h you will get enough power to over take or complete your acceleration. Similar to the city driving scenario that saves fuel too.
But ye as others said the city mileage vs. highway is very big. By my estimates highway you can do 9-10L/100km but city is more like 15-16L/100km. Driving to work and back (scarborough to downtown) i waste as much gas as going from toronto to kitchener 1 way.
