Default Nightmarish Story (with happy ending)

I will cut out the semi-bad part from last week and get to the REALLY bad week I just experienced pertaining to the Z I "bought".

Ok, so last Thursday (8/20) I located the car I wanted which was PG, touring, sport, nav, etc. and told my dealer I'd like them to go get it, they said they would since it wasn't too far away. I also got a great price which was invoice, so I happily signed the papers and was told to expect it to arrive on Monday (8/24). I left a $1500 deposit.

It was Wednesday (8/26) that I knew something was up since I hadn't heard anything. I called the dealership 3 times, leaving a message each time then decided to go in person. They keep telling me they're working on it blah blah blah, still knew something was wrong so I called the Nissan we were swapping with and they say "there's no way Nissan A is getting this car. It's the last one in the area and we won't swap at cost." I go into Nissan A on Thursday raging and saying they're liars and cost me a week of waiting when they couldn't even get the car. I ask for my deposit back and they say they already cashed it and I'd have to wait till next Friday (9/4). I yell "how the hell do you cash a deposit on a car you couldn't even get??" Whatever, no matter what I said I couldn't get it back. I call Nissan B and they say the lowest they'll go is +$1000 on invoice. I say wow that sucks since I had invoice but oh well I'll go in and hope for the best. Told them I'd be in today (Friday, 8/28). Dealer calls me today and confirms that I'm coming in, I tell him yea I'll be there in a couple hrs (they are ~1hr away).

I arrive at about 4 p.m., ready to sign the papers and leave happily with my new Z, albeit paying $1000 more than I originally was going to. I walk in, only for the salesman to say, "You see that space on the floor? That's where the car was 45 min ago. It just got swapped." I completely freak out. Like, completely. Nissan A said they can only swap cars at cost, which was a lie b/c this other dealer paid cost +$1000. About to go home, I decide to see what else they have to offer, though I was still firm in what I wanted. Long story short, I begin to rationalize that I don't really NEED Touring, though it was something I really WANTED. I ask how hard it would be to put leather in for me and he says not hard at all. I also wanted Nav but knew going aftermarket wouldn't be bad idea.

So, I signed the papers AGAIN on my Z, the exact car I wanted minus Touring but plus leather for $1000 extra. Got the car for under invoice since they felt bad for my situation, so all in all I paid about $6500 less than with touring + nav but including leather. I just need to go aftermarket Nav, a decent sounding system, aluminum pedals and I'm almost all the way back to where I would've been. Turns out that I'm actually really happy with my decision, as going aftermarket for some things will really allow me to personalize the car. Plus, the build date was very late; serial # 409*** with 12 miles on it just about sealed the deal for me.

Here's to hoping there's no more bad news!
