Haha, I actually do consider myself just another rider. There is a difference with parts and mentality for racers out there. I go out there to have fun, a street/canyon guy that wants to see how I can do mixing it up with all the racers. I still ride the street, still goto starbucks with old buddies on two wheels and such.
Well in 07 I started trackdays religously on every non-raining weekend and holidays haha. In 08' I started racing and ran out of money after two race weekends, then quit riding. Sold all my bikes in 09-10 after sitting in the garage all that time.
Bought the ZX mid last year, still getting back into it. It's pretty un-nerving racing at tracks you have never been to and I am still settling in. Took the bike to my first race this season with I think 4 total rides (3 in the street/canyons) And the way I do it, is very unconventional, I run 6 laps during one practice and then sit around until my race.
Not like others who have been there many times, go the day before, run every practice session and such. I am still on stock rear sets (pegs) which is bad since they drag, with my short legs, it's a little tougher getting up and over the seat to throw the bike around and move on the bike. Also the stock suspension is untouched, stupid on my part but it was working alright.
Hopefully I will be able to improve my standings for the season after a 6th then a 3rd, right now I am in 4th for the season, I beat the 3rd place guy in the last race which is who I am after each race since he is an arrogant prick.
I want a top 5 finish for the season. Any top 10 and I get mandatory bumped to the expert class next year which is what I am after.
