As I said, you can do what you are saying, but you will have to do in the car with little room to play with. If the connectors were not available then I would do as you say, but then I'm good with a soldering iron and car wiring.
I didn't know that the harness doesn't come out,I would still put the electrical connectors on it but I already have a "D" lock.
