Right now I'm leaning toward the Z but I have to tell you the ford dealership let me take a 2012 5.0 home for the weekend it was a hoot. Lots of power all over the place, handled Ok too for what I was expecting. Price wise the two are pretty close with the Z a bit more expensive. I'm favouring the gun metal first choice and the air stream lighter gray and black with permisson leather as close seconds. The problem is there are never any stocked in my neck of the woods so I've only sat it one a few weeks ago and they sold it so none around to test drive. I don't want to fork over the cash as a deposit until I can atleast drive in one.

I was thinking of going with the 7AT but don't know if I'd be happy with that. Looks wise the Z can't be beat IMHO. Performance wise from the stats I saw the Z isn't really that far off. Was wondering how true that really is? I'd give up a couple tenths for a much better looking car.

Are there any known issues with these cars? I know some had oil temp problems but did they rectify this for 2012?

Hope to see you all in a few weeks with a new Z. I have my street bike sold ZX-10R and just about have the 2007 cBR600RR sold so I'll be ready to buy something very soon. What are some must do mods? I guess CAI and exhaust system? I'm a bit of an old bugger though at near 47 years old, don't think I'll be too old eh? Thanks

Thanks for any Z advice, tips, tricks etc.
I like your post because it sounds just like mine a few months ago.
I went with a 2012 in gun metallic and 7AT and absolutely love it.
The color looks clean for the longest and the 7AT is an OK compromise with the semi manual shift.
I also sold a 2000 R1 and was missing it hence the Z. Not a direct replacement obviously but at 48 it will do.
Mustangs - I like em but man they're just everywhere!
