I'm sort of wondering if you don't have your "battery saver switch" in? There's a couple fuses that the dealer leaves popped out so the battery doesn't go dead. Among the functions is the intelligent key "always searching" (i.e. the way it should work is the car is always looking for the fob, and it will have already found it once you walk up and by the time you press the button it's already authenticated, vs the battery saving function where it never searches until you press the button, then it goes through all that which takes some time), the air conditioning memory, and the intelligent key chime. Do you get a chime when you unlock the doors with the request switch?
