Insurance companies simply have some type of mathematical algorithm for assessing risk of loss. There is usually large variations between companies as they each weigh different risk factors differently. Try another company and you might find a shockingly large variation.

They also don't care about your "experience" over those in your same category. You are going to be pooled with 20-somethings that have never driven and the same ages with lots of road experience.
