I'm in the same boat, Pint, but at least you've started the mod process. I haven't done any mods to my Z, and I'm a newbie, too.
From what I've gathered, to get a better looking car with better handling, I need Swift Spec R + Stillen Sway + spacers. Some have strongly recommended Koni's.
Are Koni's shocks, and why should I get them?
