Thanks. About the switch: I was thinking the same thing: get full control of the DRLs, because the Philips controller turns off the DRLs when the headlights are on, i.e., at night. As it turns out, the DRLs are so bright you don't want them on at night--they would blind on-coming drivers. So I ended up installing the DRLs following the instructions, with no extra switch.

I have loaded my center console with powered switches: one for the rear fog light, one for interior lighting effects, and one that was going to be the DRL controller.
