Back to the topic, no matter who bash who, but the OP in that thread was saying he got laughed by an NISMO owner when he told the NISMO guy he is getting a 1M....

I pay less respect to that NISMO owner....

I drove my friend's 1M, and I have to say, you can't say it's a 1-series, cos it's 99% different than a regular 1-series. I will not go into technical data again cos you can google it. The power band of the 1M is very very broad and flat, it is turbo-charged, but I can't feel the turbo-lag, unlike a STI you feel a sudden punch from 4k, the power from the 1M is from low end to redline, the punch is all the way.

The drive is light and responsive, take off from a standing stop at a regular manner, I can feel the 1M is lighter, climbing speed easier than the Z, turn in is quicker and responsive, I believe it's because the M3 suspension.

I understand my Z is a roadster is it is heavier and less responsive than a 1M, however, my impression from the 1M, not comparing to the Z, is quick, easy to take off, flat&even powerband, and fun to drive.

note: the 1M doesn't give out its full horsepower unless the "M" button is select or if the gas pedal is floored. When I was testing it on city street, I didn't select the "M" button nor I didn't floor the gas because I was in public road.

The finishing of the interior is top-notch too, seating position is nice, little blind spot, thick leather steering wheel, I thought the one in our Z is quite thick, but thickness of the one in 1M is just right on.

The exhaust note... as a stock exhaust, the note is amazing, jumping back to the Z after the 1M, it's like from a concert to a library.

Overall the driving impression on the 1M, I say 8.5/10. The missing 1.5/10 is because I only drove it for a while, not intensive enough to find its flaw but it's unfair to just give it 9 or 10. The drive did cover both city and highway AND redline,

Of cause, the cons of BMW is maintenance cost and reliability, owned a BMW before the cost is almost like a woman!!! And I will never go back to that grave again. LOL

cheers
