That wasn't dust, exactly. It was discolored powdercoat from burning and when it softened, the dust embedded into the coating. I had the stock brakes with stock paint on them that time. The first iteration of my brakes, which were burnt orange, discolored and darkened after 1 event. When I replaced them with Brembo fronts, I did the brembos satin black. Now with the stoptech trophy brakes, I'm leaving them the anodized finish that they come in, because they do hold up.

I think the brakes got more to around 600 degrees. With a brake cooling kit, you'll probably be ok. My buddy w0ady who has a G37 and posts here sometimes has a set of akebonos I powdercoated for him, and he tracks and they are holding up just fine.
