I live in Indiana - limestone capital of the US. If we don't run water softeners, everything, and I mean everything spots. If you just spray down a car with regular water and let it dry you'll have white circles everywhere. There is so much lime in the water that it's actually sticky.

The salt in the water softener is just for cleaning the medium - very little actually stays in the water.

I'm probably not getting as low of TDS as a CRS, but I bet it's close.
