The past few weeks have been very entertaining. Lots going on at JTran Studios. We got a new member to the Wolf Pack, RONITA! We've been concentrating on his build and it's come out great, still some fine tuning, fitting re-circs, etc....
I took the car up to the shop last week and ripped the turbo kit off and installed new clutch, went over entire car, re wrapped a few things and got her back on the Dyno so I could make more power/WTQ than Ron. With the car on the Dyno we noticed a nasty exhaust leak coming from the driver side triangle flange, it was so bad it was spooling the turbo 1k later
The new guy who re-installed the kit, didn't listen to johnny and tightened the V-Band connecting each bank together before tightening the triangle flanges. Now, I do almost all my own work on my car but it was Mexican Thursday and I was on the grill cooking lunch for everyone or I would have slapped him. Anyways, back on subject, we did one last pull on the dyno and BAM, METH line came off and we had a nice fire in my engine bay, I wrote more about that fun time here
Houston Chat Thread There wasn't any damage but I will be re-designing my meth lines this coming weekend. Switching over to AN fittings dash 3 or 4 and stainless lines. AEM really needs to re-think sending sh*tty hose w/ their METH kits. Push-lock FTL.
Yesterday Johnny and I learned that the Comp turbo(6265) we got from our good friend who has connections at Comp Turbo (who also drives a custom twin turbo Ford GT w/ quick spool Comp Turbos) is actually a 6065, LOLOLOLOLOL. We contacted Comp and they're going to upgrade my intake side to a 67 for free, so I'll have a 6765 very soon. We chose to do a larger intake side so we can spool faster. Getting rid of the exhaust will not be a problem, I'll dump it and sound badass all day long
As you can see it's been fun. We are going to do a real Dyno run Friday with my current 6065 and see what we can make at same PSI as Ron no meth. Then the car will be down for a week for the new turbo and so I can fab up some new Meth lines, then we will have a new Dyno run which I have no doubt will crush RON
.
I've also purchased a VQ37 stock block, no crank or internals and stock heads, no internals for $300 shipped. Johnny and I discussed buying a stock crank and letting G&G(best machine shop in town) stroke it to 4.0 give or take and run some bullet proof internals. More on that fun stuff later on, it WILL be built by years end.
Pics of the ride at the office today! <3
This has been such a fun build for me, I've learned a TON and wouldn't change it for anything! JTran FTW!
