1. I wouldn't inject before the SC; it may pit the rotor.
2. Try a direct port injection kit -- you may (or may not) be able to run more timing. I don't think this motor likes to run too much advance, but if you run lower timing ordinarily, you should be able to add a degree or two back.
3. Absolutely run a failsafe.
4. I'd experiment with mixtures -- a blend of distilled water and some sort of alcohol will work best (the mixture displaces air and fuel, so...), but for PURE anti det, nothing beats running just water. It has an effective octane of infinity, after all.
