I'm about quarter way through the docs.
I decided to re-approach the 'phantom' key this weekend. The way I was able to do it now w/ a simple latched relay is upon hitting AUX1 on the remote control, it gives me 15 seconds to engage the ignition. After the 15 seconds the key disappears. So I can open the doors via the Viper pod, enter the car, and press AUX1 on the Viper pod to get a key to magically ‘appear’. If for some reason I decide to walk away without starting the car, the key will disappear shortly thereafter. Once the Z is started (either with the Viper pod or the standard ignition push button), the key will continue to be there through the entire life cycle of the on ignition. (in case she stalls). Once the Z is turn off AND either door opens, the key once again disappears.
Then finally – just in case I don’t have the pod or it gets damaged – there’s a super secret momentary push button that is not accessible unless you have an intimate understanding of where it is that will also start the 15 second timer. This will allow for emergency push-button starting.
The units I used were the Viper 4704 2-way w/ 1 mile range, and the DBALL bus controller plus a total of 3 standard 12v SPST relays. Docs to follow.
