it appears the gear seize up for some reason and once you free up everything and put it back together it works again...well, until it seizes again. it has too many moving parts imho...

I thought once you took the lock apart and taped/zip tied the correct parts. That it would start and work, it just will not have the lock safety mechanism and the warning light would stay on.
