I had similar problem with Nissan and my 350Z so I installed a B&M short shifter and adjusted the stop as recommended by B&M. You put the car in fifth gear and use a feeler gage to gap it properly. Too much issues, too little issues. For kicks I reset the factory manual tranny shifter using the same technique. It shifted better .... but, not as good and the B&M short shifter. When I regapped it with the stock shifter almost all the knotchiness went away. The short shifter was so much sweeter though !
Good luck !!
