Done: See my recent post of under DIY "Steering lock entry and immobiliser delete".
There may be no photos but the instructions/knowledge/reasoning are clear for any 1/2
competent DIY/mechanic ! It just takes courage (or a spare lock) to do the job.
I was not prepared to wait for Nissan to dither (and blame me --- again !) so ... job done 2 months ago. I then disconnected the lock and its associated lump of iron as being a real reliability liability: One disastrous immobility is enough. I need the car.

The Panasonic microswitches are available from your electronics store if you really need to fix the lock itelf....but I have no faith in any Nissan electronic steering lock, updated or not....so instead of a lock I have a secret fuel cut-off. Any aggressor will get 50 yards down the road and stop. Maybe not as good, but reliable. I also have a master switch, with key, and an aircraft circuit breaker for long term parking.
