So let's say I buy a new steering lock and keep it in the trunk with some tools, just for peace of mind in case I get stranded. And then say I get the steering lock fail on my original lock. So I swap it out for the new one, and then what? Can I drive to the dealer with the new lock installed and then present the failed lock to them and try to get it replaced under warranty? Or would I have to drive close to the dealer, get out, install the old faulty lock, and then hope I can get it working long enough to drive into the garage to show them? It seems like I would have to reproduce the problem and since it's intermittent, maybe the old lock will start working again when I show the dealer and then I'm back at square one? I'm confused about the best way to do this.
