Nissan 370Z NISMO RC In Grand Am Continental
Tire Challenge Series
Lebanon, Ohio - Doran Racing announced that it will enter a Nissan 370Z NISMO RC in conjunction with Nissan Motorsports in the Grand Am Continental Tire Challenge Series, competing in the GS class.
The effort will reunite both team owner Kevin Doran and lead driver BJ Zacharias with Nissan. Doran fielded a Nissan GTP car in the early 90’s in the IMSA Series and Zacharias drove the first 350Z in the Grand Am Cup Series for Schuitemaker Motorsports/350EVO during the 2003 – 2005 seasons.
“The Nissan 370Z NISMO RC has great potential and we’re really excited about this program and our partnership with Nissan Motorsports,” said Doran. “The 370Z NISMO RC is built by NISMO in Japan as a turnkey race car. However, we did need to make some changes to meet specific Grand Am rules and safety requirements. This is definitely an area where we can help NISMO with future cars for the series.”

The team will start the season at the Grand Am Barber Motorsports Park (AL) event, March 29 – 31, after missing the opening round at Daytona. Zacharias’ co-driver at Barber will be Bryan Heitkotter, last year’s winner of the Nissan/PlayStation GT Academy reality TV Competition. “Both BJ and Bryan have experience in these cars, which will help quicken the learning curve, and BJ’s knowledge of the Barber track should also be a great help” said Doran.
Regarding the partnership with Doran Racing, Ron Stukenberg, Nissan Senior Manager, Motorsports Marketing Communications, said “We are looking forward to working with Kevin Doran and the Doran Racing team on this new project in the Grand Am Continental Tire Challenge Series. The Nissan 370Z NISMO RC has the potential to be a winning race car and with Kevin’s experience combined with BJ’s driving talent we’re confident we’ll have a strong season.”
In addition to Nissan Motorsports, Doran has also partnered with Rays Engineering, OS Giken, Hotchkis Tunning and HD Graphics.
