And actually, if you read between the lines in the Service Manual, probably the most-ideal oil weight for this engine is 10w30. In the "For North America" section they claim 5w30 is the only option, but in the "Outside North America" section they say, exactly:

10W-30 is preferable.
5W-30 is also preferable and will improve fuel economy. If 10W-30 or 5W-30 is not available, select the viscosity, from the chart, that is suitable for the outside temperature range.
Probably the reason for the difference is US standards on fuel economy and/or emissions. Either way the difference between 5w30 and 10w30 isn't much.
