I personally would get the oil changed earlier than Nissans suggested mileage when you're putting on the cars first miles. I had my first oil change within the first 1000 miles and then the second in the next 1000 miles as I wanted to make sure to rid my oil of any metal shavings while the engine broke in. How long has the current oil been in the car? Rule of thumb... Even if a car is sitting, I'd never let it go past a year without an oil change.
