I went along with my dad to look at some new Toyotas three weeks ago. At the end of sale, when he was signing some final paperwork, they asked if he wanted this shock sensor alarm. He explained it as follows; some thieves walk around and tap on cars to see if they light up or chirp. If they don't, then the car becomes a potential target. He mixed some marketing in it to try to sell it but I looked at my dad and just shook my head. He declined.
I guess if it's the same device, think of it as an ultra sensitive "shock" sensor. Shock in reference to tapping, pounding, slamming, etc.
