Actually, longer the trip - cooler the engine. I took a 3 hour trip in 95 degree weather and needle was stuck at 220 the whole way. As long as you have air coming in (i.e. highway), it'll cool the temp down. Also, if you have the A/C on, temp goes even lower.

Now, OP, do you remember how much they initially charged you for oil cooler install and labor? If I recall correctly, oil cooler is about $780 + 4 hours of labor where intake is +/- $450 + 2 hours of labor(?). I am just curious.
