Generally 2 unequaled skill drivers in 2 unequal cars, skill should win at the track, but in a lapping day the lessor driver may still have you in the faster car (no passing on corners)

The best is when someone jumps in your car and shows you how much faster it can be compared to how you drive it. You stop thinking about mods at that point and start listening to instruction
