THIS... and I have a backup cam with the runway lanes which help a lot.. I put my mirror in a down position so I can see 50% ground and 50% air where people walk. That way I can see small and large objects easily. Back up slowly and use all 3 mirrors while backing up. The cam is just reassurance that nothing small is behind the car or its perripheral. So this method would work without the camera.

Its really not a problem when you get in the habit.
