I think the salesman in some ways are just being a car sales person. A bad one but generally speaking they are somewhat from the same ilk. Yes their are good one's but at the end of the day they are car sales people. I just have one other thought on your experience.
You should have not mentioned you were currently unemployed. Thats really none of a the sales persons business at the intial start. Unfortuantely I think that played into that salemans mindset that you were unable to buy the car that day. If buying I don't think you would have been able to finance on your terms. Sure some dealerships will finance with some risk at their rate or terms to you and your current exsisting situation. That rate usually is more of a benifit to them than you. In closing if you had not mentioned that part you would have been going for a test drive.
