I personally back into nearly every spot I pull into, unless I pull in through the spot that ends up behind me. Either way, the end result's the same. I find that it's safer for me to drive out of a spot than it is to back out into traffic where I'm half blind.

Parking is difficult in Europe in general and backing can assist in leaving and working out of a spot faster. Its practical. Ghetto its not. Its just parking! Its quite almost the norm here
