Memphis does, too...a seperate Traffic division...and then to further break that down, each precinct in the city will generally have their own Radar cars as well as UP for regular calls...and I'd imagine most large cities will have a similar set-up.
Thats not to say that UP doesn't run tags or violators when not on calls...supervisors generally stay on them to be doing something, and a violator is almost the easiest thing to find in a pinch...but people get so pissed off that they got stopped in the first place...as if it were the officers fault that they got caught speeding. Lets not forget that a great deal of felons and warrants are caught doing what?
