I have a 2011 Z with 5000 miles and one morning when I put the car in reverse (manual) the dash instruments and mirror camera loss all power. Everything else worked fine. I went ahead and drove to work and on the way home the car shut down to idle speed then after 1/2 mile the car shut down completely leaving me stranded. Dealer said the ECM was fried because I wired a GPS directly to the fuse block and I would be paying for the repairs. The GPS was directly wired to a OEM fuse and it has an in line fuse. Why would it be different than plugging into the accessory socket? Car has been in shop for over two weeks waiting on parts.

Sounds like the dealer doesn't want to turn it into Nissan warranty, probably to bring in more gross profit or they may not want to wait for reimbursement from Nissan.
