Just pulled this from my car club this morning, which is filled with a bunch of diehard Viper guys:
Quote:
Ralph Gilles, CEO of SRT, provided this information on the new Viper courtesy of Viper magazine (I don't think any media outlets have reported on this yet because Dodge/SRT wants to keep the media focused on the new Dodge Dart...so you are definitely getting this before anyone else). The new car will, 1) be built in a revamped Conner Ave. Assembly plant which made the original Vipers (well Gen 2 and up), but with new state of the art manufacturing techniques learned from their Fiat/Ferrari brothers (with special attention paid to interior/upholstery processes). 2) the car was designed and engineered entirely state side (i.e. no direct Fiat influence). 3) it will definitely have a V10. "It is actually all new but will be very familiar to you all...let's just say it has enjoyed a very deliberate evolution." 4) It will be a manual. No paddles. 5) Unlike all previous Vipers it will launch as a coupe first rather than a convertible. 6) It will be the flagship of the new SRT brand and will definitely drop the Dodge name. They are focused on crafting "a legend" and not just another car. 7) It will debut at the NY Auto Show in April 2012 with production starting in Q4 2012.
