Sorry that you're taking my posts from a strong literal perspective.
Do you think it's OK for a 40,000 car to burn 1qt of oil per 1,000 miles?
What about 3/4, 1/2...at what point do you find it acceptable?
Now, contrast that with a Honda Civic, that has a 6000 mile oil change interval, and the engine holds 3 quarts of oil. What would happen if that engine burned oil like what some have posted here with their Z? After the first oil change, I've never checked it between changes. I do check it the day of, and after I'm done...but between; nope - I don't need to. I do 15K oil changes now...still not a problem. 15K on a Z, that eats a 1/2 quart every 3K would likely blow up.
As for my Z - I checked it a few weeks ago. However, at the time I didn't have a baseline because I never checked it before then. Since then, I've changed the oil and have a new baseline. Time will tell if mine has a leak problem or not. To be honest, I'm debating on running the old oil through a coffee filter to see what turns up.
Anyhow...blame me for the Z burning oil - I don't care. All I can say is Nissan better hope it DOESN'T happen to me.
