I've owned both the Evo X and currently am in an Evo 8. The 8 is a raw car. It was seriously designed to do one thing and one thing only, perform well. The interior is a crap design, rattles, and is made out of the same crap that a base lancer has. My 8 has SSL which includes leather recaro's, a sunroof, infinity sound system, and adjustable headlights. While those extra's are nice to have, its still not put together well and feels cheap. The leather is more than likely pleather and you can tell pretty easily. On the other hand, my car goes like hell. I have bolt-ons and a small turbo upgrade, 10% more airflow than stock, and it runs 11.7~8's on pumpgas trapping in the high teens. It brakes well and corners really good. But, thats it. It looks like a cheap car and drives like a cheap car. I'm getting older now and cars like this are not worth it anymore. I'm glad its getting traded in for a 370.
The X on the other hand is MUCH better than the 8/9's. It does everything better except drag racing. They look better, run smoother, and have more technology. On paper, the Evo X is probably one of the best designed cars out there. However, and typical of mitsubishi, on paper only means so much. They still cheaped out on the raw materials to build the car, designed the interior around commuter cars, and pretty much don't give you any support. I personally can't complain, but I know of and have read wayy too many dealer horror stories
I'm picking up my 370Z on Monday. I'll make sure to post a thurough comparison.
