I was looking for info on the new 9990HD HU for my Z06 (funny I found the link here linking me back to the site I use
and I saw your questions about the hard buttons and the color. I'm like you, I have a red and black theme going, and like things to match. Here's the info on the current 9980 unit:
Variable Illumination (256 Color Palette): You can adjust the head unit's touchscreen and button illumination from the following preset colors - Blue, Purple, Sky Blue, Aqua Blue, Yellow, Green, Amber, Red, Pink, White, or Scan (Scans through all preset colors). You can also select three custom user colors that are adjusted between Red, Green, and Blue values from 0-31 each. In addition, you can download still images for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
So I'd hope the new unit would be similar.
