You are right,don't touch the top 3 bolts,loosen the otter most allen bolt to the resiover,loosen the allen key to the brake line bracket,loosen bottom gold lock nut,then turn(upper gold lock nuts) it clock wise to raise it(use the small spanner wrench)turn it counter clock wise to lower it(use the larger spanner wrench)reason being if you do it this way you won't mess up your preload.
