It's a little different than that with some VQ motors, which have been known to eat 1 quart or more worth of oil every 1,000 miles.

My 2006 350z needed to have it's engine replaced due to excess oil consumption, along with many others.

It's one thing to burn a quart between oil changes. It's another to have a dry engine after 3,500 miles because of excess oil burnoff.

OP, you have to keep track of the oil consumption yourself. Let the engine sit overnight and take a reading. Check again after 500 or 1,000 miles. If the readings are very similar, you're good to go. If you see the reading drop an inch or more (approx), you may want to have an oil consumption test conducted by the dealer.
