I love my Z and its an overall better built car. It launches to 60 and the quarter faster than an evo. The interior is leagues better than an evo... BUT, you can't ignore the fact that an intake, exhaust and tune adds an insane amount of horsepower cheaply and easily. Its uber cheap to extract enormous gains. Also a proper coilover greatly improves handling. I did choose a Z because I am willing to spend ridiculous money for a turbo. But if I wasn't willing? I think the EVO is a better out the box "tuning-performance" buy. While the Z is a better overall buy. I say test drive both... if you don't want to spend a lot on mods. A tacky interior doesn't irritate you and need back seats? Go evo.
If you want high quality, low maintenence reliable non-aspirated performance. Are willing to get completely azz-raped for mods and do not need backseats. The Z is the best way to go.
Both are extremely good in handling. The EVO is one of the best AWD's and the Z is one of the best RWD's.
