To recap: Canadian and European 370Z's have a functional rear fog light in the lower center of the rear bumper, and an extra switch on the headlight control stalk to turn it on or off. The US model has a blacked-out non-functional dummy replacement light, and no switch (but it does have all of the harness wiring in place, probably just to keep things easier at the factory with fewer variations).

Some people like the idea of making the fog light functional again. Some people also think that given the horrible view out the rear of the car when backing out of parking spaces, using it as an F1-style rear blinker (which flashes rapidly when the car is in reverse to warn other drivers) is a good idea too. Some people also want it to light up and/or blink when the brakes are engaged, or light up with the head/parking lights, but personally I think both of those options are perhaps legally questionable in many states and not all that useful. So hence we have some threads going about how to accomplish various combinations of the above.
