Also, years ago I drove 160 miles (of a 300 mile trip) through the mountains in a snow storm... when I finally made it home:
I survived by following in the tracks of 18 wheelers. They'd clear enough snow for me to be able to drive down the highway at around 35mph safely as long as I didn't stray outside of the tracks. Once I got off the highway I was on my own... in some places the snow was 6" deep and I was the only car forging through. I didn't do anything that would slow my momentum down, so I didn't stop for red lights or stop signs. Not that it mattered because I was the only car on the road... I should have stopped ahead of the storm and checked into a hotel room... afterall classes were cancelled the following day.
